Special needs pets can inspire us every day

they don't see their handicaps; they cherish only the time spent with you

Sarah H.

she may take small steps but she's big on love

Sarah H. was first spotted on the steps of the government complex KOMHAS doing a strange crawl up to where another street cat and dog had been receiving a handout. It was clear her right leg was unusable and she held it up as she made her way as if it brought her pain. A vet check for wounds or breakages revealed nothing, and yet she wouldn't use her right leg. Months of sheltering her first in a condo cage as she can't run and was antisocial with the other rescues, proved to be helpful. It was only with time and patience and coaxing that she learned to put weight on her right leg and use it for regaining her mobility. She still  has an abnormal gait due to her deformed  right leg joints and shoulder blade. Spayed, and still bullied by other cats so she would be suitable in a single cat household. Enjoys company of dogs she is in a home with. Timid at first, but likes petting, is expressive, and enjoys human company (she enjoys sitting near people), and staying indoors with a chance to go outside.  About 3 years old. Low maintenance

Merry

a little christmas rescue

Merry was born with no eyes, but is energetic and playful despite this big handicap. She was spayed last month and the vet estimates her age at about two years old. She prefers the indoors and protected environments, and rarely goes in the yard.

TIger Heart

small but brave!

Little Tiger Heart had a ruptured eyeball most likely from his time of birth and from his mother having a chlamydia infection. This does not stop his amazing energy! His eyeball could not be saved and it was surgically removed recently after a week's stay at the vet's. As no adopters came forward for him, he was returned to the cafeteria behind a mosque and a parking lot at Plaza 6. He is very scared of dogs, but has a few playmates with other street cats in this area. Welfare check last weekend revealed his eye socket got an infection, so he is getting another stay at the vets.

Comforting Companions to welcome you home

They dispel loneliness, nurture loyal compassion, and provide that extra ear to listen to our troubles at the end of a tiresome day

Jane Doe

Calm, relaxed, mature Jane Doe subtly seeks human company by cuddling on the bed, sitting at the same table to oversee work being done or taking her place nearby one’s feet. Estimated at 6 years old, she was taken off the streets due to a case of scabies that took 2 separate treatments to rid her of it raising concerns for her poor immunity when homeless. After taking her in, her scabies never recurred, confirming she can’t be on the streets. This true survivor seeks a mature household where she can brighten people’s days with her comforting looks of contentment & love.

Now looking for love: Could it be with you?

Looking for a flight volunteer to escort Ike to Vancouver, Canada.

Ike (Junior)

This scared golden retriever was first found chained under a row of metal chairs at a parking lot near Domino's Pizza in the hot midday sun. No food, no water and when he was offered some, he drank and ate like he was starving and parched with thirst. Ike was transferred by his keepers to a bamboo cage up the street and on each welfare check visit, there was no food or water in his cage. Food and water was funneled in to him and on the third visit two days later he had broken out of of the cage on his own and was waiting for help under a nearby table. He followed us and was  evacuated to a safe foster home, where he waits for a forever family to love him. One year old, he has been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped after recent fundraising efforts to help him. He has export permits ready, and we are looking for a flight volunteer to bring him to Vancouver, Canada and to a rescue organization waiting to find him a new family and life.

Good Buddy to a new life in Canada

Good Buddy is an amazing survivor of neglect and abuse, yet it hasn’t affected his calm, gentle nature. Just rescued in June 2018, he has cataracts in both eyes from being baked daily in the sun, which causes him to only recognize people when close up. He is so easygoing with the other dogs and has never fought with them.  The cats love him, and seek out his company to cuddle with at nap times. He is timid at first, but very obedient and gratefully enjoys pets and rubs.  Good appetite, doesn’t mind a toenail clip,  over 10 years old, fully vaccinated, microchipped and neutered.
Pictured with Good Buddy is his good friend Rocky, a real fighter in surviving the streets. The first picture of the website is how we found him last year on the streets. Rolling onto his belly is Rocky Raccoon’s way of showing his affection. He is over one year old and neutered. He is very friendly to everyone  and likes attention in the way of petting and chin rubbing. He enjoys companionship with humans and is very inquisitive.  Interacts well with dogs and cats.

Kiky Dee

Shortsighted but warm and cuddly

Visually impaired Kiky Dee was found abandoned as a kitten in a closed cafe. She was blinded by chlamydia infection from her mother at birth. After she was treated by the vet, she could regain some sight but still has an impaired ability to see properly. This hasn't stopped her from leading an active and playful life.
She prefers the outdoors these days with a chance to go inside. She is very affectionate, enjoys human company and sitting on laps / beds. She is spayed and about a year and a half old. She can be in a multiple cat / dog household  and she is very independent, making her low maintenance

Why adopt a street animal?

After enduring the trauma of surviving on food scraps, puddles, and fights for little pockets of space, every street animal is grateful for any kindness and compassion to give them a second chance at hope for a home. Please, never buy an animal when so many are desperate for that last chance to get off the streets. Please check our gallery often or contact us for a biodata document of all our adoptable rescues. All adoptions are free.

This dying cat was picked up off Jl. Kebayoran Lama and sheltered for her last few hours...RIP
